3 owners, 4 names, 30 years in operation…

Acquired by Axens in 2010 from Rio Tinto Alcan, Axens Canada has brought new markets and products to the Axens portfolio. A manufacturer of activated alumina-based adsorbents and catalysts as well as alumina binders and specialty alumina trihydrate, Axens Canada has found its fit within the Axens group as the world’s leading supplier of adsorbents to the licensees of the SCLAIRTECH® polyethylene process (90% of market shares). Located in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, the Axens Canada operations consist of a multi-line production plant, Technical Centre for product development and customer support, and an integrated logistics, customer service, and sales team.

Health, Safety, and concern for the Environment are at the forefront of this approach, as evidenced by the outstanding safety performance of the operation, including a previous record of over 20 years without a Lost Time Accident.

From its origins 30 years ago as part of the fledgling Alcan Chemicals business, the Brockville, Canada operation has grown from 7 people to 60, expanded capacity and added process lines 5 times, and continues to set new records for efficiency and throughput. Driven by their continuous improvement mindset and customer focus, Axens Canada has doubled its revenue as part of the Axens group. New products have been added in the Refining, Water Treatment, and Petrochemical markets.

Employees are involved in many aspects of the local community, as coaches, mentors, and volunteers. Axens Canada employees can be found involved in local minor hockey, baseball and soccer, leading hikes at the local conservation area, and supporting local schools and youth programs.
